At our January meeting I intend to bring up the idea of a swap meet again. I am shooting for March. Input on what date conflicts might be out there and preference for which weekend would appreciated. I cant see closing the feild, but I think we can safely set up the area on the west end of the parking lot and part of the grass. Safety might dictate that the heli pad be closed.
Put up your post about the dates and if you would be interested in participating. If we are going to do this I think it need to be advertised soon.

come on guys $10 for a 10' x 10' space? you can't even assemble two airplanes in a 10' x 10' space. at Markhem's swap meet they let you have as much ROOM as you want and for only $5, and you get a raffle ticket for a nice prize. if you want this to be a GOOD swap meet: close the field like any other swap meet and have all the sellers on the runway, I'v seen many people drive their vehicle on the runway during the fence rebuild so, pull your car on the grass runway so you can have some grass to put your merch on and what ever on the runway. leave some space for a walkway that's all.... not many people can drive from corner to corner on the heli side of the field because you will need a 4x4 to do so and if your thinking of carrying your stuff over to a spot out on the heli field your nutts. lol.
Show up with your merch, get Phil a safety patrol belt and have him direct people on the runway with their vehicle and pull your merch out and sell sell sell!
THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. I am not the one making this event happen this is just my two cents. but honestly $10 for a 10' x 10' space
AND EVERY ONE! GET THE WORD OUT! this needs to go on all the major forums and emailed to other clubs all over FL. lets make this a good one!

FYI ... when Dad and I went to Markhem for their swap meet a few weeks ago we sold pretty much all the junker planes we had. we brought with us 18 planes and sold 15 (including the Mayhem and GeeBee) so we only have a few planes left to sell if we come to this swap meet. and still, if you don't want it on the runway atleast close the field to NO flying because I know no one wants somebody or yourself to get hurt by a flying plane. if your imagening this to be a BIG swap meet with other people not from our Club I seriously recommend closing the field to flying.
Just my two cents again..

Dan we are not sure of how many will show thats why we are asking to E-mail Craig to secure your spot. Not sure if we should close the field yet the west end of the parking lot is where we will set up if we need more space we will start to move into the heli pad area. We will keep you posted thanks for the input.

Dan the set up will be the west end of the parking lot. The heli pad will be closed for safety but the swap meet will be south of the spectator fence and will be well withing acceptable safety standards to keep the main runway open. Should I get you a reservation?

Only if you let us have more then 10' x 10' space.... that's just ridiculous.
And yeah I can now see a swap meet on the heli/electric field. but if we have as many people as Markhem's swap, then no.. lol
Make up a flyer so I can post it on the forums..

I would like to ask one last thing.
Since you guys aren't closing the field, are you guys going to monitor the swap area for people turning on transmitters they are selling? this could lead to alot of "shot down"s by swap sellers and people flying.....

To answer your questions :
1) Of course you can get more than 1 space that why we are pushing pre-registration. First registered will get preference. Though I dont think you still can see the set up for the area. The area will start in the parking lot about adjacent to the pavillon and go west from there.
2) point well taken on transmitters I will find a way to communicate this to vendors that morning to keep the radios off or secure the fequency
RC Bushpilots presents a:
When: MARCH 23rd 2008 9:00am 2:00pm
Where: Phil Wherry Field at Dyer Park
1234 Haverhill Rd. West Palm Beach, FL.
Cost: Spectators are FREE!!!
A $10.00 Donation for vendors for a
10’by 10’ space. Space will be reserved
on a first come first served basis.
Who: For space reservations or additional

"Of course you can get more than 1 space that why we are pushing pre-registration"
]Well no Craig, I wasn't thinking that.
what I was saying. I think it is ridiculous to pay $10 for 10' ft to sell your merch on. and if we want more space we have to pay another $10 for another 10 foot square?
how about just collecting $10 from the sellers and let them sell as much as they brought. remember, "not every one has a u-haul full of stuff"

Dan If you could afford a uhaul full of stuff you can afford the extra 10 bucks for a second space My wife has a BA in Business and currently merchandises retail stores. Maybe she could give you lessons on how to lay out retail space.
I am going to try to get her to lay out my space so I can sell my stuff and fly
All kidding aside It would not be fair or nor would we be able to anticipate the space needed without some measure to go by. The bottom line is this is a fun event and fund raiser for a club that is back on the rise. There are some goals and events we would like to see happen this year and some of this is going to take funding. I know you pay dues but for the 10 bucks support your club. Better yet bring a friend and get him to rent space also. You'll make that back on your first sale.

The big deal is, are we having a "Raise money for the club" day? Or are we having a REAL swap meet that people from all over and including our club members are going to come? and come on guys be real, you can't even assmble TWO airplanes in a 10' foot square. I'm just saying sence this is a NEW swap meet make it inviting and comfortable for the seller and not make them have to pay so much money to sell their stuff that they probably won't even sell! Remember when Dad and I couldn't even GIVE away those planes we brought to the combat event? they were GOOD planes too! they needed work but what do you expect for FREE?
Do you guys even know the feeling I have right now? have you guys ever been to a swap meet and actually sold stuff? do you know what it feels to be a seller?
