looks pretty cool, notice how they use what ever plane they got. I like that idea aswell. but I think we could have a class like Open B but for electric. how about Open E? I think a aircraft that cannot weigh over 8 oz would be good. the lighter the better!
here is a setup I believe will be the best for combat planes and 3D planes. Note: Indoor COMBAT and INDOOR 3D
Motor: http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5208
ESC: http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4317
Servos: http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5459
Battery 11.1V: http://www.rctoys.com/rc-toys-and-parts/TP-350-3SPL/RC-PARTS-THUNDER-POWER-3-CELL-LITHIUM-BATTERIES.html
Battery: 7.4V http://www.rctoys.com/rc-toys-and-parts/TP-350-2SPLJ/RC-PARTS-THUNDER-POWER-2-CELL-LITHIUM-BATTERIES.html
now this to me in MY opinion looks like a good setup and I only heard good comments about that brushless motor. and that brushless motor is the same brushless motor they charge $19 bucks for on WildRC.com (IFO's website)
the ESC I have heard good and bad comments. if you want to spend a little extra and get quality go for the THunder Bird 9 amp from Castle Creations. > http://www.rctoys.com/rc-toys-and-parts/CC-TB9/RC-PARTS-SPEED-CONTROLLERS-CASTLE-CREATIONS.html
the servo is a 3+ gram servo that has a 5 star rating. I like it so far yet I havn't owned one. they also have a 4+ gram servo for a bit cheaper.

Here guys. I did a quick design on a simple VTO combat plane.
I'm gonna build one and put a GWS IPS drive on it for power.

I say we all use slow sticks or something like it. We could then keep cost low and also keep the air speed down so not to damage the gym or for that mater any one. Just A idea to kick around, let me know what u think.
Boots AKA breaker of roberts rules LOL HA HA just kiding

I like the idea of slowsticks too, but GWS has them temporarely unavaiable from Tower (the cheapest place for GWS slowstick slopeglider kits) $10 bucks a slope glider kit (comes with nothing but the plane and hardware) and it's like $14 bucks for the full fuse slowstick.
it you guys want strict combat foamys I can come up with a design on CAD os some thing like the Slasher or Avenger but of foam and alot smaller and lighter. we could have specs just like how Open B is. Like certain size motors and batterys, along with weight limit.
I like the idea of just using a GWS IPS geared motor. it would keep the planes slow and is light and only $14 from Horizon.

Dan your VTO idea could be modified into a elevon light wieght combat plane that is nothing more than 2 peices of foam. Simple and easy to replace.

I like the mini slasher idea. But it would have to be air foild.Maybe sorta like your open B shark wing just made with
3mm dapron with A carbon rod to stiffen up the fuse.I would say about the size of Ed's lil Bash V2? We could have
A club R and D night, just need to keep it simple and light. Dan could custom air brush them. I see A possible
indore class. Come on Dan fire up the CAD lets see what ya got. I dog dare ya, I double dog dare ya!! Dan I would
like to see A slasher look A like, just mini me it. Come on kid stop reading this and get to work! LOL.
So Long Boots out

now what I'm wondering, I know Rick wants a plane that every one can fly and can be used for Combat and fun fly activities.. such as limbo and balloon popping... that's why I designed the VTO because it could be used for many things for indoor flying. so, I'll get a couple designs up and see who likes what.
I'm working on a simple slahser/avenger indoor combat plane though

Thats my point If you change the wing shape to be condusive to combat, maybe a cf slat on the leading edge. Walha istant indoor combat. I tried to upload a drawing of the wing shape I had in mind but it didnt work.

Yo yo yo guys, I finished my VTO and just let me say, it is a PERFECT indoor combat plane with the IPS drive. it's not to slow or not to fast, no vertical so it makes it more challenging. I noticed when flying with alot of power inside the GYM you end up coming dangerously close to the roof or wall. with a 9 x 7 GWS prop on the GWS IPS drive it has plenty of power to scoot around.
FOR EVERY ONE WHO WANTS TO SEE THE COMBAT VTO FLY COME TO THE INDOOR FLYING MEET THIS MONDAY NIGHT! the 24th to be exact!
Bammeseemo out!
