In Mays Newsletter I proposed a Build Group/ Party/ Session/Class. To help potential Combat pilots succesfully build their first combat plane. There are some definite benefits and down falls to group building but if you can spare a couple of nights and a couple of bucks for a plane I will do my do my best to put on a good program.  This is a perfect opportunity for the typical ARF Pilot to learn a different skill. The Build is different from the typical sport plane so even a balsa builder can learn how to build the "bullet proof" combat plane

I am leaning toward buying and building a single design. Since SSC is the fastest growing area of combat I think The SSC Scarnell Avenger is a good choice it is easy to launch flys well and is very durable. Working with 3G hobbies and Team Scharnell I will see if we can get a discount for buying items in bulk. Keep in mind that this can change based on the needs of the group but I think this is a good start and I am open to suggestions and special needs. My goal is to see each of you be successful.

The items needed for an SSC Plane are about as follows:

  1. An SSC Kit
  2. A Magnum .15 motor or OS LA 15
  3. 3 to 4 servos (more later)
  4. Glue 5 min epoxy, poly U glue (gorrilla glue) 3M 77
  5. 3M extreme packing tape
  6. Covering material (can be low temp iron on or simple colored packing tape)
  7. Reciever, radio and small battery

2 of the servos should be a metal gear servo Hitec HS 82 MG or similar there is an option for one or 2 aileron servos for a single servo I would use a metal gear hight torque for dual servos I would use 2 of the HS82 MG.

Leave a reply, sign up and leave me your email address. Based on the needs I will secure some dates and see if I can't beg the manufactures for some bulk discounts. I will address costs when I know how much Buying power we have based on interest

The next contest is in September so You will have plenty of time to practice to compete. I will even help with some combat instruction at the feild.

Only 3 people signed up so far. . . .  Time to step up we need a minimum of 8  to make this happen.
It looks like we will be able to build in the store at 3 G Hobbies with just a little set up time.  Dates are still TBA but I am thinking that it will be 2 Tuesday nights in June. Put up a post or send me an email to get the ball rolling

I asked The Club VP to send out a "last call" email today. If there is no more interst by the end of the week I think this build is a no go. So this is your last chance for a great opportunity.
