New Pilot Training Program
The RC Bush Pilots has a training program for anyone interested in learning how to fly remote control model aircrafts. Student pilots will work one on one with one of the club’s registered instructors. Lessons will cover every step needed for a new pilot to successfully fly their airplane solo. Since students learn at their own pace, lessons will continue as long as needed for the new pilot to feel comfortable flying on their own. Lessons will be flown on a .40 sized trainer with a buddy box. New pilots can either fly their own plane or one of the club’s trainer aircrafts.
RC Bush Pilots fly at Phil Wherry field located on the south side of Dyer Park. Dyer Park is located on the west side of Haverhill Blvd. and Dyer Blvd. Lessons are free to all club members, but membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the RC Bush Pilots is required. Membership in the AMA includes required insurance coverage and a year’s subscription to “Model Aviation”. For more information and membership information please visit:

If you are interested in learning how to fly using the club' s New Pilot training course, please contact Chris Martindale, RC Bush Pilots lead instructor at :
We will set an appointment for your first lesson with one of the club's six instructors and you will be in the air on your first lesson. Feel free to ask any questions or stop by the field and see what our club members are flying.
The 2 documents below are the student check off list and the instructor training manual. Student pilots may benefit by reading the instruction manual. All student pilots should print out a copy of the check off list to have at the field for instructors to check off and see where the student pilots are in their training.
